how the story goes...

it goes like this...

when jon is home i don't really blog.  there are a lot of things i don't do when jon is home that i do do when he is gone.  blogging is one of them.  it is either that he demands all of my free time or he demands the computer, or it could really be just that we do other things --- also i go to bed earlier because i can't sit in bed with the computer on for hours when he is trying to go to sleep -- this is because i don't like it when he is on the computer and i am trying to sleep. phew.  glad we got that covered.

so i realized (again) today that i just haven't been on the pictures --- really since summer -- and here it is almost summer again.

i also worked on my december daily book today -- yes,  i am aware that it is march.  and no, it isn't done, but it is close.  that should tell you about how much scrapbooking i have been doing lately.

so the real question is just what have i been doing?  well, i think i have been hibernating and when not hibernating i think i have been at work with possibly a weekend or two of travel...  so while i can't really think of any "thing" that i have been doing, i know that it has been good.  and that's what counts right?

p.s.  how did it get to be march already?

today i spent most of the day hibernating in my sweats and sweatshirt -- then i spiffy'd up a bit and went out on the town -- well to town that is -- to senior recognition and a birthday party to be exact.  now i am back to the sweats again.

the most expensive pizza

last night was kim's birthday.  we were going to get take-out thai food -- but they were closed.  plan b- homemade pizza.  my job - start the dough.  kim came home with a multitude of deliciousness and new yeast - because the first didn't seem to be working.  20 minutes later -- i decide that the recipe i have isn't complete and that the 2nd round of yeast isn't very bubbly either, but we decide to try it anyways.  a crust pre-bake and a taste test later, kim and i decide that it just isn't quite birthday dinner quality.  i call papa murphy's to see if they will sell just a crust.  they tell me that they can only sell a pizza with sauce or cheese on it.  ok - kim and i decide to go pick some up -- upon arriving, i state my request.  i would like to buy some pizza crust.  i would like to pay for a cheese pizza -- but with nothing on it -- "no, i'm sorry, i can't do that, if i let a pizza go out of the store with nothing on it i will be fired." -- even if i pay for cheese and sauce and you don't put it on the crust -- "i will lose my job, there has to be at least sauce on the pizza crust" -- ok -- i would like 3 pizzas with minimal sauce and nothing else -- he can do that.  ---oh and i have a coupon---  "your total is $19.67"

onward and out the door -- armed with our 3 crusts -- kim and i decide that we will be his story of the night

at home, we made 3 very delicious pizzas:
-- olive oil, mozzarella, brie, fig, and pineapple
--marinara with pesto, ricotta, mushrooms, fresh garlic and basil, and a mozzarella cheese blend
--pesto, with a little marinara, chevre, mushrooms and fresh garlic and basil, and mozzarella

it was a toss up, but my favorite was the chevre -- it is such a strong flavor, it's hard to think about anything else  -- however, the fig and brie pizza was the overall winner and really really delish.

it's ok.  i know you think we're crazy too -- we probably are -- but it was 7:30 and we were starving and had all these beautiful toppings to make our very special pizza on a very special night. -- oh and we froze our "pizza dough" for future "flat bread" pizzas -- as it was tasty but not what we were needing last night.

i have to get ready for work now -- i am 20 minutes past my 20 minutes for this blog post - due to some uploading and surfing of the web --  today i get to wear my sweats to work, eat nachos, and watch the movie "cars" -- it's a hard life isn't it?

27

today is my birthday and i am twenty seven years old. birthdays are so much more exciting when you are 7, but 27 is going to be a good number. today i went to breakfast with a friend at my most favorite breakfast restaurant, clarettes. so delicious and a great way to start the day! then i went to work (because i am not seven anymore, but instead i am an adult and must work on my birthday). fortunately i have a fantastic job and so i played at work-- i played outside with the kids, i played inside...then i made my most favorite dessert, cupcakes, kindergarten style (hooray for funfetti) and shared with my kids, and then, because i am the teacher, we watched one of my most favorite movies (and also one of my kids favorites)--the cat in the hat--. btw, there is nothing better than being greeted with happy birthdays and hugs by 6 year olds, unless it's eating pizza and ice cream cake with family, your friend sending you flowers, or having the best roomates ever surprise you with a cold stone creamery cake they brought home for you from their day trip to spokane.

p.s. today i wore a flower headband (that i made) in my hair, maybe parts of me are still 7 after all...
